Wrecking Ball Nerf and Bug Fixes Enter Overwatch PTR

An updated Overwatch Public Test Region patch gave Hero 28, Wrecking Ball, a slight nerf and fixed a couple of bugs for both Wrecking Ball and Tracer.

A majority of the Overwatch PTR patch notes focused more Sombra changes, which were added to the PTR on Tuesday. The patch notes mentioned Wrecking Ball's speed was nerfed, the first documented nerf since the hero was introduced.

Wrecking Ball's Grappling Claw was hit with a small nerf. "Movement speed reduced from 22 meters per second to 20 meters per second," the post read. Although this is not a heavy nerf, it should make Wrecking Ball feel less of an overpowered threat when using Grappling Claw to gain intense speed.

Bugs involving Wrecking Ball were fixed in the patch.

  • Fixed a bug that prevented Wrecking Ball’s Piledriver from generating ultimate charge
  • Fixed a bug that allowed Wrecking Ball to use Piledriver whenever there was clearance below him (e.g. standing on a ledge)

An unusual "jitter" at the end of Tracer's Blink animation was also fixed according to the patch notes.

The PTR is only playable on the PC. Players who have access may test out the newest hero and the new Sombra changes -- though fans are hoping Blizzard rethinks its direction with her changes.
