The Division 2 American History Museum Basement Key: Where to Find and Use it
The key itself is found by mowing down enemies in the the American History Museum operation. Its yellow glow makes it hard to miss, but be sure to loot thoroughly as you progress through the museum.
Once you have the key, head toward the archive room. Pass through the jungle area and the Patriotism and Protests exhibition to find the elevator to the archives. Drop down and look for a chainlink fence to your right. The gate that bars the way there can be unlocked using the key.
On the other side of the gate you should find some loot-filled boxes with decent loot. The loot can be picked up every time you replay the mission, making it a good place to stop each time.
