Stringfish Animal Crossing: New Horizons: What You Need to Know About the Rare Fish

Stringfish are large, tan, speckled fish that are only available during the months of December through March. Previous games had this generalized to "winter," but with the new southern and northern hemisphere distinctions clearly new criteria had to be specified.

Stringfish can only be found in the rivers near the tops of cliffs on your island instead of just in the rivers in general. In New Horizons, they appear exclusively from 4 pm through to 9 am the next day. Each one is worth 15000 bells.

It's obvious why players hunting for them so aggressively.

These fish are part of the salmon family--shown by their general shape and mouth. They measure about 63 in. So far, stringfish have appeared in every Animal Crossing title. They are one out of four of the most expensive fish to ever exist in the franchise.
