HUSSEY RESUMES WORK AFTER MATERNITY

Olivia Hussey says shooting The Ice Cream Man was the perfect assignment for getting back into the swing of things now that her daughter, India, is 51/2 months old.

The actress, who rose to fame in Franco Zeffirelli’s 1968 Romeo and Juliet, notes, “The baby still wakes up two or three times a night, but the movie isn’t too much work … that’s why I took it.”She also has a 21-year-old son from her first marriage to the late Dean Paul Martin, and an 11-year-old son by her second husband, singer Akira Fuse.

The 41-year-old Hussey says her pregnancy with India (by live-in love musician David Eisley) was a difficult one. “I spent almost six months in bed, then, after having the baby, I really needed to recoup. I’m glad to be working again.”

In Ice Cream Man, she plays “this quirky old nurse, who’s completely nuts. I look like a cross between Granny Clampett and Norma Bates” (Norman Bates’ mother in Psycho IV).
