For the first time in the Borderlands series, players will be able to visit other planets and not just stay on one.
Borderlands 3 Planets: How Many are in the Game?
Although the game-play still feels the same as the predecessors, Borderlands 3 is so much more expansive. The game has four different worlds to explore, with a fifth being a secret planet. Each planet has its own unique features and settings. Here is a quick guide to the five planets.
1) Pandora: Fans will have no trouble recognizing this planet, as it is the planet players have been on since the first game of the series. Players will be familiar with the settings, people, and just the overall feel like being at home.
2) Promethea: This metropolitan world has high sky rises and an open world to roam around. This planet is where the Atlas corporation found alien technology, and reverse engineered it. It is also where the Atlas Corporation lies. It gets taken over by Maliwan, who destroys the planet and turns it into a wasteland. The displaced citizens are recruited by the COV (Children of the Vault).
3) Athenas: This is the planet where you first find Maya. Maya plays an important role in Borderlands 2 and 3. She was raised by monks and eventually betrays Brother Sophis because of the evil deeds she was ordered to do. She tries to find meaning in the series by heading back to Pandora. This planet has wide open spaces and you will find a lot of opponents.
4) EDEN-6: This planet is luscious with life. It has the areas Ambermire, The Anvil, Blackbarrel Cellars, The Floating Tomb, Floodmoor Basin, Jakobs Estate, and Voracious Canopy. You can find the useful items, Eridium, Hammerlock, and Clay here.
5) Nekrotafeyo: This place is the former home of the Eridians. This place also has the secrets of the Great Vault, which has massive amounts of power. This vault can only be opened by collecting the totems of four different vaults.
