Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The students in our school have overcome many different obstacles over the last few years, and they continue to work through these barriers every day. Our school wants to adapt a math intervention program to support our students who are struggling the most with different concepts needed to grow their math knowledge.

The Bridges Math program uses a strengths-based approach to build on each student’s abilities—starting with manipulatives, then moving to two-dimensional representations and mental images.

It provides targeted instruction and assessment for essential K–5 mathematics skills and concepts.

We will use this program to enhance children's math skills, and build their knowledge in Counting & Early Place Value, Operations: Basic Addition & Subtraction, Base Ten Operations: Addition & Subtraction with Multi-Digit Numbers andAddition & Subtraction Problem Situations. These different areas will continue to help these students become fluent in their math skills and how to build each skill off one another.
