5 Overwatch Lore Characters We Want as Heroes

Overwatch's comics and lore are chock-full of interesting characters. Some would fit right in with the rest of the game's playable cast, so why not put some of these characters in the game? Get on it, Blizzard!

5. Emily

Emily is Tracer’s girlfriend and we first saw her in the Overwatch comic Reflections . We don’t know anything else about her, so there’s lots of room for speculation. We know she lives with Tracer and we know she knows Winston (presumably through Tracer) so perhaps we can assume she’s affiliated with Overwatch? Maybe a scientist or a soldier?

If that’s true, maybe she too has special powers or some Omnic abilities? Master fighting or weapon skills? Either way, the voice lines and banter between Emily and Tracer would no doubt be adorable, and we’d love to learn more about this character.

4. Athena

Athena is the voice featured in Overwatch as the announcer and overall narrator of the game. In the lore, she is the computer system at Watchpoint: Gibraltar and the MV-261 Orca, the ship we sometimes begin maps on.

We know that she works with Winston and we know that Winston invents and creates mechanical things. It wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine Winston creating a fantastic robot (not unlike Efi and Orisa) and imputing Athena.

She could fill any role, but since Winston is a Tank, maybe she’d be a Support character?

3. Timmy

Timmy is the spunky little boy featured in the first Overwatch animated short. He and his brother Brian were both speculated to be Doomfist (before Doomfist was actually introduced), because of their involvement with the failed Doomfist heist in the short.

Brian can obviously wield a powerful gauntlet, but Timmy is the one with all the gumption. His passion for Overwatch could inspire greatness, and he has the potential to be the next Soldier: 76. If not, he’s still at least one of the funniest sprays in the game.

2. Queen of Junkertown

The Queen of Junkertown made her debut in the intro video for the latest map, Junkertown. A gladiator and ruler of a scrapyard empire, the Queen is powerful enough to command all who dwell in Junkertown and can easily keep Junkrat and Roadhog in exile.

Despite not actually being seen in the game, the Queen can be seen in flyers on the walls in Junkertown, and can be heard in the intro video. Since she already has a voice actor, an appearance, and a backstory, it seems only natural that she could be the next Overwatch character.

1. Lynx Seventeen

Omnic hacker Lynx Seventeen was hired by Zarya in Overwatch comic Searching. We learn that Lynx has been trying to track down Sombra, and eventually helps Zarya find her in Dorado.

We know he’s got computer hacking prowess, we know he’s got history with Zarya and Sombra, and we also know that he has adorable bunny-like “ears” that move depending on what he’s doing and thinking.

Another Omnic hero would be very welcome, but how would he differ as a hacker from Sombra? The general consensus online is that Lynx is definitely the next Overwatch hero to be announced.
